Why attend a workshop with Indigo Mustard?

Updated: May 18, 2019

Why attend an Indigo Mustard art workshop when you can watch YouTube videos and learn art on your own?

Offline

Let’s face it, we all are exhausted being online and connected 24x7. If not online then there are the chores or the children calling for attention or the errands to run or the bills to pay or the car to service or the dog to walk or the heart-break to heal! You get the drift? If you have ever been passionate about art then you know that you have to be ‘in the zone’ to connect with your canvas. With Indigo Mustard we are trying to give you that “me time” and that “zone”.

A real (a)live Guru

Watching a video rehearsed and staged by an artist is just that. You can rewind, forward, pause as much as you like but just as a photograph or a video of the Himalayas pales in comparison to the actual experience of being there ...watching the process of an artist create something in front of your eyes is incomparable. You can see the way they mix colors, the way they hold the brush, the way they take time to think before composing! You can ask questions, ooh and aah and laugh with them! The memories stay with you long after you finish the workshop and of course we promise you will never be the same again.

Friends

The journey of a self taught artist can get lonely. You can’t even be sure if friends and family are just being nice to you when applauding your work. Our workshops inevitably bring together like-minded people. It is rare if you go back with no friends! Before we finish the workshop, numbers get exchanged and a whatsapp group gets created. You will continue to be a part of the Indigo Mustard art community that encourages and criticises when needed. It is wonderful to have the right company and the possibilities are endless when artistically inclined people come together.

Format

We don’t believe you can really learn much in two or three hours. Sometimes even a full day or two days or a lifetime is not enough to master a medium. We try to do as much justice over a weekend as possible. Allowing the artists to teach they way they think is best and balancing it with the needs of the participants. We can’t go back to an art school so we bring those who did go through the rigour to teach you. The best part? They don’t just teach techniques but a way of seeing and surrendering and letting go as well.

Comfort

The little things matter to us. A nice, convenient and comfortable venue that sets the mood is paramount. We take care of everything else so that you can focus on learning art.

Above all we love hosting both the artist and the participants. Nothing makes us more happy than to see people immersed in creating art while the rest of the world dissolves.
